Re: Assign hot-keys
Regarding a global hot key to bring focus to AllMyNotes. This may be irrelevant or not possible to many people, but I've never owned a keyboard that did not have some customizable options (Windows). The one I'm currently using has 5 buttons that can be assigned. If you do nothing the buttons 1-5 open the five leftmost programs on the taskbar, right of the quad window symbol. (Win 7 & 8, probably same thing right of 'start' on earlier windows editions). I was used to having things on my taskbar at the bottom of the screen in a specific order so it was a little weird for me to move the icons to the left so the global keys activated the programs I wanted quick access to. I could have programed them. Too lazy. Windows Key+ T cycles through everything on the taskbar, open or closed. Alt+Tab opens a window of active apps and each press of tab cycles to the next open app. Not exactly a global hotkey but something.

It's easy to implement global key directly in AllMyNotes, but there is one problem with it - apps that do it are automatically considered as suspicious by various Antivirus titles. This is a huge issue, simple false positive can easily kill the app on thousands PCs, huge amount of loyal users will prefer to get rid from the app rather than think or wait for resolution. Same for download sites - majority of serious sites simply delete software which is reported as suspicious. I understand, it sounds crazy, but this is the fact we've come through already and therefore we prefer to keep our app(s) as safe as possible, and even to do not look suspicious to Antivirus software.
Could I beg you to consider an option, disabled by default, with a warning that says something like "Warning, enabling this global-hotkey may cause the software to trigger a false-positive in your anti-virus software." Or does the hotkey need to be registered at start regardless?

For some reason this never works for me. Thank you for the advice though! I will try again.

I definitely understand your reasoning. You would know better than me about virus detection software, but it seems odd that a global hotkey would trigger a false positive. I have downloaded many open source and commercial apps that have global hotkeys and none have triggered a false positive.
Global hotkeys would also be extremely useful for creating new notes "on the fly" - just type the hotkey which would trigger a new note. Type in the note and then organized later.
Right now the biggest hindrances I have with the program are 1. Not having a global hotkey and 2. Having an interface that forces me to have two large toolbars when I could only have one.
Thank you for replying!

If all you want is to bring up AMN main window why not use properties of AMN icon to assign a shortcut. I use ctl+alt+A to start or bring AMN to the top.

I recently bought Allmynotes and I was startled to find that there is no global hotkey to bring up the main window. The program is now useless for its intended functionality (fast paced environment at work) because I have to find the window all the time. I was using Resophnotes, but the lack of organization was killing me. Will you ever implement a global hotkey to bring up the main window?

Assign hot-keys
Great product!
I am really missing a possibility to use hot-keys. Would be great to have a ability to create hot-key for various actions.
Thx
Sergey
