I have a "GOTD-version" of AllMyNotes . Now, when I open the program some new updates is announced with the question "do you want to update your version". If I accept and install an update - will it then effect my gaotd-version ?

As long as you'll install it in to another folder you can have both versions installed simultaneously and it will not affect your license.

I had a similar question: I downloaded and installed the GAOTD version on 14-Sep-2011. I know that the GAOTD page states the following regarding Terms:

Terms and conditions

Please note that the software you download and install during the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations: 1) No free technical support; 2) No free upgrades to future versions; 3) Strictly personal usage.

I fully understand that the purpose of allowing programs to be downloaded and installed freely on sites like GAOTD is with the hope that the users like the software and purchase a license, and I am using this time as a long trial to see if AMN is useful to me. (I have so many damn Notes programs it's pitiful!!) Maybe AMN will be the be all do all for me. Won't know till I use it a while. Maybe it can bridge some of the gaps between the various Notes apps I use now.

The GAOTD Terms above specifically exclude "upgrades", but it doesn’t mention "updates". Does AMN consider its minor releases to be"upgrades"? In other words, can GAOTD users install minor releases within the GAOTD license terms? Or are no minor updates permitted?

I appreciate any clarity you can offer!

The license for GOTD version from 13-Sep-2011 is bound to version 2.49 only, this because so far we haven’t released any paid upgrades, and having free minor upgrades for unpaid Deluxe version customers would hurt us a lot.

Yet, you are still welcome to try new versions, here is few tips/things need to keep in mind when doing so:

1. Make sure to install a newer version to the folder which is different from the one where GOTD is installed.

2. You can work on same data file from any version, just use File -> Open menu item in newer version to open the data file from GOTD version.

3. If you need additional trial period, to have new version working in Deluxe mode, you are welcome to get it here (it's totally free). Note: you can request as many trials as you want, first time you'll get 14 days, and following times you'll have 3.

I understand and to be honest I think I will just stick with 2.49 until I decide to purchase AMN. You're correct in that it isn't fair to your paid users to allow the "free" users to benefit from the updates, and I'll honor that concept. :)
