Hmm... you must be new to the app indeed, cause AllMyNotes easy handles such kind of drive letter change automatically, no need to change link path or anything - if the file is not found by specified path, the app is searching for it by enumerating drive letters. It simply works :)
Re: Link to File Feature Request
Good mornig to everybody!
I'm new in this forum and I was seraching for a solution to the same problem rised from simbad1 and fluff.
I use the portable version too, and when I move or copy AllMyNotes from one disk or USB stick to another, togeter with all the linked files (mostly PDF files), I lose previous links. And this happens also f I simply use the same USB stick on defferent PCs, in that often USB sticks have different drive letters when connected to different PCs.
So I agree with fluff that a "relative" linking would be VERY appreciated, especially for those, like me, that make huge use of the portable version.
If not possible for the next release, a useful "tool" to modify in a single batch all the links to files, say, for example, from "file://C:\Users\John\Documents\Apps\AllMyNotes Organizer Portable\HomeArchive\..." to "file://F:\Portable Apps\AllMyNotes Organizer Portable\HomeArchive\...", would also much appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Would it be possible to implement the concept of relative file stored in a subdirectory at an immediatly lower level ?
The app and the ddb would be, say, in directory MyNotes and the relative file in the directory RelativeFiles under MyNotes, we would have something like :
" \RelativeFilesSub\xxxfile.txt"
You can create file hyperlinks using File -> Insert -> Hyperlink menu item, or, drag&drop file to AllMyNotes and holding the Ctrl key pressed down.
In case if you are concerned about .ddb file itself, there is not much to worry about – it doesn’t affects performance at all, and there is no limit on .ddb file size. The only thing we recommend is to do not attach many huge files to single Note, cause these are loaded on opening Notes, which can be slow, soon we'll address this issue.
As I am using the portable version, I would still vote for relative links, so I am not using unnecessary storage space on the USB drive, growing the database, with embedded files, when a relative link would do.

Re: Link to File Feature Request
Right, we have many feature requests of this kind. Hope we'll have time to do it soon.
Link to File Feature Request
Please consider using different icons for different file types. For example email, html or text. It is difficult to determine what file is what because the icons are all the same.
Thank You
