What's new in latest Beta builds?
Sep 7, 2026 - Version 5.03 build 2418 (beta):
This is not your average update - it's the single biggest release in AllMyNotes Organizer history. We're not exaggerating: count up the new features, improvements, and fixes below and it adds up to more than the last ten releases combined. Grab some coffee (or something stronger) - there's a lot to get through here.
⚠ Back up your .ddb file(s) before installing this build. This release changes the underlying database format - stronger encryption, and file attachments are now stored differently inside the data file. We've tested this thoroughly, but it's still a beta, and a storage format change is exactly the kind of thing you want a safety net for. Copy your .ddb data file(s) somewhere safe first - just in case.
Search got smart
• Global Search now looks inside your attachments. Text files, CSVs, source code - anything you've ever attached to a note is now searched right alongside the note's title and body text. Turn it on with the new "Search in attachments" checkbox (Deluxe edition). Matching files show up in the results list with the attachment name, so you always know exactly where the hit came from.
• Search filters for power users. The Global Search field now accepts filter tokens typed right into the search box, no extra UI needed: date:>2024-01-01 finds recently modified notes, size:>1mb locates large ones, in:Projects searches only within a specific folder branch. Filters can be combined with regular keywords - or used entirely on their own.
• Inline preview panel. Selecting a search result now shows a live excerpt from the note body directly in the search dialog, with the matching keyword highlighted in context. No more jumping into the note just to confirm it's the one you wanted.
Synchronization - rewritten and actually finished this time
• The synchronization algorithm has been massively overhauled. It now correctly handles far more complex scenarios: the same data syncing between multiple computers not just through one central database, but with each party connected to different workgroups/databases, forming complex mesh structures - and it all still syncs naturally and correctly. If both sides already contain the same data at the time of the initial sync, the algorithm detects the duplicates and keeps exactly one copy of each - no duplicates, best possible resulting tree structure. The synchronization settings UI has been improved, sync conflicts are now handled correctly, and if something does go wrong the UI shows you all the details. For now, sync still has to be started manually via Tools → Data Sharing → Synchronize Data... - automatic background synchronization is coming soon.
Import/export: now a real power feature
• Improved export/import for HTML, RTF, and TXT. HTML export now includes a genuinely nice-looking Table of Contents reflecting the tree structure, much better HTML formatting overall, preservation of folder/note structure and attributes, and the ability to re-export previously imported data back out again.
• New Markdown (.md) format for import and export - for better compatibility with apps and services like Notion and GitHub. When moving data between AllMyNotes instances, the tree structure and extended item attributes (alarms, colors, priority, checkboxes, etc.) are preserved.
• Export/import a hand-picked selection of notes and folders as its own portable file - pick items from anywhere in your tree, save them, and drop them into any other tree later.
• Added a proper export options UI so you can configure settings specific to the selected format.
• Password-protect any HTML export with AES-256 encryption (bank-level) - it opens right in the browser with just a password, no AllMyNotes required.
• "Obfuscated mode" for HTML export - scrambles the text on disk so it's unreadable in a plain text editor, while still looking completely normal in a browser.
• True round-trip fidelity: re-import an HTML file that AllMyNotes exported and get back the exact original - full folder tree, formatting, attachments, alarms, and every attribute, not just plain text.
• New export format - PDF! An exported PDF can be imported back into AllMyNotes without formatting loss - though import isn't universal yet: it works for PDFs generated by AllMyNotes itself, but not all third-party PDF files will import correctly.
• New export format - DDB file (AllMyNotes' own native format), which preserves data formatting natively and supports strong password encryption (AES + ChaCha algorithms). Handy for partial data export/exchange (export only selected items) and also for downgrading to an older version.
• Rich, properly formatted PDF export with real Unicode/Cyrillic fonts, embedded images, and a clickable table of contents.
Database format and encryption
• HUGE CHANGE: the DB format has changed. Added much, much stronger encryption - industry-leading AES-256 and ChaCha algorithms, essentially bullet-proof. Upgrading and downgrading to the old format are both supported. Downgrade to the older format can be done via the Export function, or forced via File → Storage Details → Privacy → Downgrade Now, for compatibility with older versions of the app.
• Added support for the JFIF image format as a variant of the already-supported JPEG format.
Drag-and-drop, much improved
• Moving a note or folder to a spot that's currently off-screen used to mean dragging to the very edge and waiting for it to auto-scroll. Now you can just spin the mouse wheel - or tap PgUp, PgDn, Home, or End - to get there instantly, all while still holding the item you're dragging.
• Drag multiple notes or folders at once from multiple folders - they now land exactly in the order you had them, no more shuffling. Also fixed a rare case where the destination position ended up shifted down.
• PgUp, PgDn, Home, and End now work mid-drag too, for quick jumps to the top, bottom, or a page at a time.
• Arrow keys nudge the view during a drag - Up/Down move one line, Left/Right jump three lines for a bit more speed.
• Hover over a collapsed folder while dragging and it now expands itself after a moment, so you can drop straight into it without opening it by hand first.
Rich text editor: we didn't hold back here
• Moving the caret up and down now keeps your original column instead of drifting to the left after every short or empty line it passes.
• Much improved cursor navigation and rendering for languages with multi-symbol combined letters (grapheme clusters): Persian (Farsi), Urdu, Pashto, Kurdish, Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, Nepali, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhala, Thai, Lao, Tibetan, Burmese (Myanmar), Mon, Shan, and Khmer.
• Much better support for right-to-left (RTL) languages: Hebrew, Yiddish, Arabic.
• Added an Emoji menu! Edit → Insert → Emoji/Symbol... - it remembers recently selected symbols for convenience.
• Extended the Icon and Color selection menus to remember recently picked icons/colors and offer them in the first row. Keyboard navigation in these menus is also improved.
• Improved the Font Select menu - now with (1) a font preview, (2) a font type filter [regular, symbolic, fixed width, all], (3) a better name filter [now matches any fragment of the font name, not just the beginning].
• File attachments are now stored separately from the document itself within the data storage file - opening documents with huge attachments takes zero time. Same for images: they're loaded in the background (only the ones in the visible area) and rendered separately from the main document, making documents with lots of images open almost instantly.
• Many, many usability improvements and new text formatting support.
• Alarm/Reminder objects used to be shown as just an icon - and that was it. Now at least 3 lines of information are displayed: (1) the description text, (2) date/time (for repeating events, full details on exactly when it repeats), (3) the next occurrence date/time with a countdown, very visual. Added a right-click menu for Alarm objects to skip the next occurrence, edit the alarm, or enable/disable it. The same information now appears when printing and exporting.
Also new
• Big changes in the Folder Preview Panel - rich-text preview, drag&drop support, in-place renaming, icon selection, status change, lots of small details, animated effects, zoom in/out with Ctrl+Mouse wheel.
• Added the ability to customize Keyboard Shortcuts. See Tools → Options → Interface → Keyboard Shortcuts.
• Added duplicate menu items and keyboard shortcuts alongside the existing Copy/Paste commands.
• Automatic Backups improvements: backups are now (1) performed in a background thread, no longer blocking you from working with your data, (2) data changes during a backup are held in memory and flushed once the backup finishes, (3) don't get in your way at all anymore.
• Improved the First Start Wizard - better UX, better default tree item options and samples.
• Introducing animated controls! Buttons, checkboxes, toolbar buttons, tree items, and grid elements now have nice animated fade in/out effects.
• The tree view is now nicely animated too.
• The Reminders window can now show future reminders and lets you skip individual occurrences of repeating items.
Fixes:
• Fixed a formatting issue when pasting bulleted lists from Gemini and ChatGPT.
• Emoji no longer confuse the cursor. Typing or editing near an emoji - especially the more complex ones like flags 🇺🇦, skin-tone thumbs-ups 👍🏽, family emoji 👨👩👧👦, or keycap symbols 1️⃣ - used to throw off the cursor position and shift everything typed after it. Backspace or Delete could even leave broken leftover bits behind. All of that is fixed now: the cursor treats each emoji as one solid character, Backspace/Delete removes it whole, and printing a note with emoji in it no longer prints tiny broken squares instead.
• Fixed multi-character unicode text rendering and grapheme cluster handling for several complex language scripts, with much better cursor navigation as a result: Persian (Farsi), Urdu, Pashto, Kurdish, Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, Nepali, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhala, Thai, Lao, Tibetan, Burmese (Myanmar), Mon, Shan, and Khmer.
• Fixed an issue where sounds from sound themes weren't played when multiple sounds were triggered to overlap.
Jan 2, 2026 - Version 5.02 build 2414 (beta):
• Fixed a bug in the previous version related to licensing, it was not accepting licenses from some purchased Deluxe edition users.
Jan 1, 2026 - Version 5.01 build 2412 (beta):
Happy New Year 2026! Cumulative update with recent changes, some updates are common for version 4.xx and 5.xx Beta.
Improvements:
• Updated translations for multiple languages, adding all missing strings (due to recent additions in the English version): French (10 strings where missing), German (15 strings where missing), Swedish (65 strings where missing), Turkish (60 strings where missing), Arabic (33 strings where missing), Traditional Chinese (50 strings where missing), Spanish (10 strings where missing), Slovenian (7 strings where missing), Slovak (40 strings where missing), Simplified Chinese for Taiwan/Hong Kong (55 strings where missing), Mainland Chinese (10 strings where missing).
• Amharic language has been completely rewritten from scratch since the initial translation quality was questionable.
• Slightly improved English language translation, revising several strings for better clarity and context.
• Added new search engines (mainly AI-based) to the Internet Search Service list in Options → Tools → Internet: ChatGPT, Ecosia, Perplexity, and You.com.
• Obtained code-signing certificate. For some time we were trying to operate without it; however, as this created issues for corporate users due to restrictive security policies. All our software and installers are now properly signed by "Vladonai Software LLC", which should also increase trust with antivirus engines.
• New feature: Interface Scaling option added in Options → Interface, allowing you to scale fonts and UI elements in a range from 75% to 400%. This option normally depends on monitor DPI resolution and defaults to "Auto (Monitor DPI)", but many users requested manual control - now available!
• Significantly reduced disk write operations, especially when no actual data changes were made. This prevents unnecessary updates to file modification timestamps, which in turn avoids triggering unneeded backups and cloud uploads, and resolves conflicts when users share data files via cloud services like Dropbox, Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, SyncThing, etc.
• The new version is compiled with the most recent Windows Platform SDK, providing perfect compatibility with the latest features of Windows 10/11.
Fixes:
• Fixed an issue that occurred when importing large file attachments from Evernote .enex files.

May 24, 2024 - Version 5.00 build 2400 (beta):
Yes, you read that right! We've made a major leap from version 4.xx to version 5.xx! While the upcoming final release of version 4.xx will include all the new features except synchronization, you can expect version 5.xx to introduce a web version (synchronizable with desktop version), a smarter synchronization, and a secure cloud backup system. Synchronization is a key feature we are dedicated to perfecting, so it will remain part of the version 5.xx beta program as we continue to refine and enhance its capabilities.

Improvements:
• Significant improvements for High DPI screens (Full HD, 4K, 8K, etc.). Fonts are now rendered much better, eliminating odd blurring issues. There will be no blurring when scaling skins. Since current skins/themes are designed for low resolutions and lack high resolution icons/UI elements, graphical elements will be scaled with a "pixelated" effect (2x, 3x, or 4x ratio), think Minecraft! :) This temporary measure will look better than before, and we plan to update skins to high resolution in the future.
• Optimized app start time by reducing parsing of language modules and other config files to header only, resulting in fewer disk scratches and I/O operations, which is significant when the whole system starts up.
• Introduced wildcards concept in Global search and in Find/Replace feature within a note. Now, the '?' character is considered a wildcard for any character. In Global search, this feature works only when the Boolean search option is enabled. For example, the search term "c???e" will find "coffee", "chase", "clone", "close", etc.
• Added support for the following keyboard keys for menu navigation: Page Up, Page Down, Home, End.
• Normalized the sound volume of the default sound theme, making it much calmer and more natural for daily usage.
• The new version is compiled with the most recent Windows Platform SDK, providing perfect compatibility with the latest features of Windows 10/11.
• Windows XP support has been discontinued.
• This 5.xx beta version will accept all older Deluxe licenses to enable Deluxe features, even if these licenses are from very old versions (since version 1.xx). So, those who have been using older versions of AllMyNotes are encouraged to switch to this 5.xx beta program.
Fixes:
• Fixed an issue with scrolling menus with a mouse wheel (it had stopped working in recent versions).
• Fixed an issue with the incorrect position of controls in some windows, particularly in the search/replace window (for some languages, controls were too long and overlapping, but now it should look totally correct).
• Fixed an issue in importing huge .enex files (from Evernote) by better managing memory during the import process, making it much faster. However, it still needs to load the whole .enex data file into memory, which requires at least 2-3 times the data file size in free RAM for successful processing. Also, for files bigger than 1.8GB, a 64-bit edition of AllMyNotes is required (it cannot be performed on older 32-bit versions of Windows).
• Fixed the Russian "sleng" translation issue (it was actually available long before this update, but due to an issue in the localization file, it wasn't working correctly).
• Fixed a few minor Windows 11 compatibility issues for better compliance with new OS conventions.
