I would like to empty the Recycle Bin without having to do it one item at a time. Can this be done?

You have at least two options how to do it:

1. Right-click on Recycle Bin folder in the left-hand hierarchy tree view, and select "Empty Recycle Bin folder" menu item.

...or...

2. Simply select this folder and hit the Del key.
