Thank you for feature request. We already received few similar requests and we'll implement it soon.

One of my favorite tools is the Global Search Tool. It would be nice if a global search data field could be provided on the tool bar so that the search info could be entered directly without having to click on the icon itself. It appears as if there is enough space on the tool bar to do so. Thanks.
