I am having a problem importing data from my Infoselect version 5.00.22:

Here is what I did:

1. Export the MyTopics general topic to a 'general text" file. I looked at it with an editor and it is tab-delimited.

2. In AllMyNotes (AMN) I do a file import and select the file. AMN works on this for about 30 seconds and then all that appears is a copy of the original file. No Folders, topics etc.

3. I export one of my subfolders and then import to AMN. This file is smaller so it returns almost immediately with the proper Folders and topics and notes.

4. I export another subfolder. This one behaves like the overall MyTopics file. All I see in AMN is the file--no folders and topics.

Questions:

1. Is the appearance of just the file expected behavior if AMN has problems decoding the original file?

2. What is the limit (if any) on the tab-delimited file size?

3. What is the limit (if any) on the number of levels of nested folders?

4. What is the answer to Torchwood's problem? He seems to have isolated a similar problem to a simple example but there is no answer at his post at

I could not reproduce Torchwood's problem with his simple examples.

BUT ... my problems with Infoselect import/export remain and I am interested in the answer to the questions in my original post on this thread.

But your issue is different, you are importing from Note-delimited format. It appears to me that you are using either very outdated version of AllMyNotes, or, something is wrong with your settings. If the issue will remain please export at least 2-3 notes and send exported file to me for investigation.

1. I am working from tab-delimited export files. I checked them by opening them in a text editor.

2. I downloaded the copy of AMN a few days ago. The installer is named 'Install_AllMyNotes_2_84_Deluxe.exe' so I believe it is the latest version.

I cannot send you the files that are causing problems because my notes contain confidential information. It will help me to isolate the problem to a simple example if you answer the following questions:

a. Is the appearance of just the file expected behavior if AMN has problems decoding the original file?

b. What is the limit (if any) on the size of the tab-delimited file exported from Infoselect?

c. What is the limit (if any) on the number of levels of nested folders?

What I'm asking for is to send me just 2-3 notes, not all your data, you can create simple tree with just one two notes inside in InfoSelect and export only that folder.

This is done with intent. Always after importing InfoSelect data file AllMyNotes is placing original source file text in the end of imported items. Sometimes users do not need automatic splitting to notes/folders, they just want to import it as plain text file. So you have choice to keep this one big note, or delete it.

Basically there is no limit except your system RAM size, which means that it can be very big, I doubt text files can be so huge at all.
